White Coat Ceremony
A “White Coat Ceremony” was held for dentist candidates who started their education at Trakya University Faculty of Dentistry this year. Traditionally held at the beginning of each academic year, the ceremony saw students experience the excitement and pride of wearing their white coats for the first time.
Trakya University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hatipler, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ahmet Muzaffer Demir, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tan, Prof. Dr. Eylem Bayır, Faculty of Dentistry Dean Prof. Dr. Ahmet Altuğ Çilingir, other deans, vice deans, faculty members of the Faculty of Dentistry, other invitees and students attended the ceremony held at the Balkan Congress Center.
Trakya University Faculty of Dentistry student Nisa Kaplaner made the first speech at the ceremony on behalf of her classmates. Kaplaner stated that the white coat they will wear is not a simple piece of fabric, but a symbol reflecting the sacredness and responsibility of dentistry.
Faculty of Dentistry Dean Prof. Dr. Addressing the students, Ahmet Altuğ Çilingir mentioned that traditional medical education was given in Edirne 400 years ago and said, “You will receive contemporary medicine and dentistry education at Trakya University, which takes its ethical values from the past and faces civilization,” and emphasized that students should never forget that the white coat they wear while receiving this education represents cleanliness, good morals and ethical rules.
Then, Trakya University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hatipler gave a speech and congratulated the students for their great efforts to gain admission to the Faculty of Dentistry. Stating that dentists should always be empathetic when communicating with patients, Hatipler asked them to practice this profession by remaining loyal to our national and spiritual values and most importantly, preserving the sense of justice and conscience, which are the basic conditions of being human.
After the opening speeches, the students of the Faculty of Dentistry were given their white coats. Then, the ceremony ended with the recitation of the white coat oath.
